Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford would reportedly “love” for Newcastle United to come back in for him in the transfer market.
That’s according to Ben Jacobs as he spoke to NUFC Matters, as quoted by TBR Football, with the journalist also explaining that the talented 22-year-old could now realistically be available for just £12-15m.
That seems like a very good price for a player of Trafford’s quality, with the England Under-21 international looking like he’s surely too good to be playing in the Championship for much longer.
Newcastle had an interest in Trafford in the past, and Jacobs seems sure that the player would still welcome another approach from the Magpies.

“James Trafford we know has a bit more of a concrete history. Newcastle had negotiated and had pushed and made an offer,” Jacobs said.
“The player would love Newcastle to make another formal approach. The feeling is that Trafford might be available for £12-15m all in and Newcastle may be able to make that one work. So Trafford could be one to watch.”
Newcastle currently have Nick Pope as their number one, so it’s not that clear if they urgently need a new ‘keeper, but it seems this could be one to watch.
NUFC will want to keep on building and improving this squad, and that means there must always be room for improvement in every position.
Trafford looks like a player with a big future, and one imagines he could end up being better than Pope at some point, even if that would be quite a ruthless decision by Newcastle.
