Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti could opt to drop Gleison Bremer from his starting lineup against Parma on Sunday.

Following Sunday’s big win over Napoli, the Italian tactician decided to rotate his team on the final day of the Champions League group stage, which yielded an uninspiring display in the stalemate against Monaco.

Kenan Yildiz, Manuel Locatelli, Andrea Cambiaso, and Michele Di Gregorio are all expected to regain their usual starting spots this weekend in Parma, as Spalletti will be keen to field his strongest possible lineup, but perhaps with one exception.

Spalletti could rest Gleison Bremer in Parma vs Juventus contest

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport, Bremer could be granted some well-deserved rest on Sunday.

This has been a challenging campaign for the 28-year-old, who returned from a 10-month layoff in the summer, only to sustain a meniscus injury that required another surgery.

Bremer thus spent a few months on the sidelines before recently returning to action. Since Federico Gatti and Daniel Rugani were absent, the Brazilian has been playing non-stop.

After the midweek contest in Monaco, the defender admitted he’s feeling a bit exhausted, and he’s also making sure to carefully manage his workload in training to avoid another setback.

Federico Gatti could get the nod against Parma

While the omnipresent Pierre Kalulu and Lloyd Kelly are expected to start yet again at the Ennio Tardini, Spalletti could consider this league contest the right opportunity to give Bremer a breather.

Moreover, Gatti has been eagerly awaiting his chance to start a match since recovering from his meniscus surgery.

With Bremer, Kelly and Kalulu forming a solid backline, it won’t be easy for Gatti to earn a starting role, but he’ll be keen to prove himself as a capable option for Spalletti, who remains familiar with the former Frosinone man, having already coached him during his Italy tenure.
