Leeds United took another step away from danger with a 1-1 draw at Sunderland.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Opta’s new predicted final Premier League table shows Leeds climbing.

Last weekend’s 4-1 home win over Crystal Palace lifted Daniel Farke’s side six points above the bottom three and above Nottingham Forest by a point into 16th.

On Saturday, fourth-bottom Forest were beaten 2-1 at home by Manchester City, and third-bottom West Ham lost 1-0 to Fulham through a late Raul Jimenez strike.

That left Leeds with the chance to pull further clear on Sunday. After falling 1-0 behind and losing Joe Rodin to injury, they hit back to draw 1-1, a result that put them seven points clear of the dropzone and two ahead of Forest.

One game short of halfway, Leeds are two points behind 15th-placed Bournemouth, thrashed 4-1 at Brentford, and three off 14th-placed Newcastle United, beaten 1-0 at Manchester United. It is bleaker for second-bottom Burnley, a point further adrift of West Ham yet still 10 ahead of basement Wolves, who remain on two points. It also indicates drops for Bournemouth, Sunderland, Everton and Forest.
