Leeds United could be mathematically safe with three matches still to play today, with Opta issuing updated Premier League projections after Saturday’s results.
Leeds visit Tottenham Hotspur on Monday in their third-last game, but they will already be safe if Arsenal win at West Ham today, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.
Sunderland began the weekend four points ahead of Leeds and drew 0-0 at home to Manchester United. They are now five points clear but have played a game more, the same as Fulham, who lost 1-0 to Bournemouth.
There is another point up to Chelsea, who drew 1-1 at Liverpool. Newcastle United sit directly above 15th-placed Leeds, two points ahead before their match at Nottingham Forest today.
Manager Daniel Farke has stressed the importance of finishing strongly and Leeds could yet reach 52 points. Title-chasing Manchester City beat Brentford 3-0 on Saturday.
Opta now project Arsenal to finish on 82 points, Manchester City on 80 and Manchester United on 68. Liverpool are forecast 62, Aston Villa 62 and Bournemouth 57.
