Opta’s latest projection makes a strong call on Leeds United’s finish following their 4-0 home loss to Arsenal.
Daniel Farke’s side had lost only one of their previous 10 league matches, but two goals in each half gave Mikel Arteta’s team a 4-0 win. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Opta’s updated predicted final table features a notably strong Leeds verdict, particularly in relation to West Ham.
The result left Leeds fifth-bottom, six points above the relegation zone, while offering third-bottom West Ham a chance to close in at Chelsea. The Hammers led 2-0, but Chelsea hit back to win 3-2, a damaging setback for the Irons.
Leeds could now be overtaken by fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest, one point behind with a game in hand at home to 15th-placed Palace on Sunday. Palace are only two points ahead of Leeds, who are also two behind 14th-placed Tottenham, with Spurs hosting Manchester City on Sunday.
Opta’s model currently has Arsenal first on 82 points, with Manchester City second and Aston Villa third on 71, and Liverpool fourth on 63. Chelsea are projected fifth on 63 and Manchester United sixth on 62.
