City’s Nico O’Reilly has received a maiden call-up into the senior England squad for this month’s internationals against Wales and Latvia.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel has moved to draft in the City youngster following the withdrawal through injury of Chelsea’s Reece James.

It’s a first-ever senior international call-up for O’Reilly who moves across from the Under-21s squad and who has been capped from Under-15 to Under-20 level with England.

It also helps further cement what has been a quite magnificent start to the season for the 20-year-old.

A proud product of City’s Academy, O’Reilly has already featured nine times for Pep Guardiola’s side this term across all competitions, making a huge impact.

His progress was further recognised last month when O’Reilly signed a new long-term contract with City, taking him through to the summer of 2030.

O’Reilly joins Etihad teammates James Trafford and John Stones who are also in the Three Lions squad.

England play host to Wales at Wembley in a friendly international on Thursday October 9, kick-off 19.45 (BST).

The Three Lions then travel to Latvia for a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday October 14, kick-off 19.45 (BST).
