At 16, Óscar Albiol became the youngest player to debut in Segunda Federación, coming on in the 83rd minute for CD Castellón B in a 2-3 win at Reus FCR. His cameo helped end an eight-game winless run.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, new coach Óscar López called him up, worked with him before the game, then chose him ahead of other options, reflecting his faith in youth from years in Barcelona’s academy.

Born in Benicarló, Albiol came through CD Benicarló FB, joined Villarreal’s CD Roda in summer 2019, then progressed to Infantil B and A, scoring 18 in 23 league games, before moving to CD Castellón’s cadete side in summer 2023.

In 2023-24 with Cadete B he played 29, scored 10 and logged 2,134 minutes. In 2024-25 with Cadete A he hit 12 in 34, totalling 2,301 minutes. He stayed to play for Juvenil B in the new Lliga Comunitat Juvenil.

This season he has played across three categories, captaining Juvenil B with 12 games, 924 minutes and six goals, plus four games, 144 minutes and one goal for Juvenil A, and seven minutes in Segunda Federación for Castellón B. Given his age, opportunities should be managed carefully.

The division also has 13 debutants aged 17, including Adrián Arapio and Hugo Fernández, while veterans Marcos Pérez, 41, of Terrassa, and Xavi Molina, 39, of Reus FCR, underline its age range.
