Victor Osimhen has revealed that Juventus were keen to sign him from Napoli, prior to his transfer to Galatasaray.
Osimhen emerged as one of Serie A's top players during a prolific period in Naples, where he scored 76 goals in 133 games across all competitions.
The Nigeria international was named as Serie A's Footballer of the Year in 2022-23, after leading the league for goals as Napoli won a drought-breaking Scudetto.
Osimhen expressed interest in leaving Napoli in 2024, with several major clubs keen on a deal. Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Al-Ahli were among the sides who explored a deal.
The forward has now revealed how Juventus were also among his suitors. Ahead of facing the Italian side in theChampions League tonight, Osimhen revealed how Napoli blocked a transfer to their divisional rivals.
He eventually joined Galatasaray on an initial loan deal. That move was made permanent for a fee of €75m last summer, with Napoli inserting a clause that prevents Osimhen signing for a Serie A rival for at least two seasons.
“I could have joined Juventus, yes. Juve wanted to sign me but Napoli president De Laurentiis didn’t want to sell me to Juventus," he toldGazzetta dello Sport.
Osimhen has scored 52 goals in 63 games for Galatasaray, including six in this season'sChampions League. He has expressed his happiness with life in Istanbul and hopes the Turkish champions can make an impact in Europe this season.
“I am at a club and city I absolutely love," he said on Galatasaray.
"I’ve been lucky to find Galatasaray on my way. There’s nothing similar to Gala, the love from the fans. We did great in Turkey, now it’s time to show our quality in Europe."
