Corinthians will open the Brasileiro on 28 January at Vila Belmiro, Santos' ground, after a schedule change aimed at aligning preparations for the Supercopa. According to Meu Timao, the switch was made official on Friday and welcomed by club president Osmar Stabile.
He said the CBF's decision followed extensive dialogue and that common sense prevailed, ensuring both Supercopa finalists play their first league games on the same date without disadvantaging either side. In an official note, Corinthians also thanked CBF president Samir Xaud, Santos and Marcelo Teixeira.
Corinthians face Flamengo in a single Supercopa final on 1 February. Before the change, Flamengo were due to start the league on 28 January and Corinthians on 29 January, leaving the São Paulo club with one day less to recover, a point Stabile had underlined.
As part of the arrangement, Santos will host Red Bull Bragantino at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, 25 January. On the same day, Corinthians visit Rio Claro to meet Velo Clube in the Paulista.
The Supercopa will be staged at Mané Garrincha in Brasília at 16:00 on Sunday, 1 February. Corinthians qualified as Copa do Brasil winners and Flamengo as Brasileirão champions. Tickets are on sale, priced between R$ 378 and R$ 798.
