Sevilla wing-back Joaquín Martínez Gauna, known as Oso, has outlined his long-held desire to play for River Plate, comments that could influence Sevilla's medium or long-term planning.
"One of my dreams is to play for River one day. My dad instilled the passion for the club, and we always get up at four in the morning to watch River's games here in Europe." He was speaking to DSports.
"Playing at El Monumental is something I have always dreamed of." He is not looking to leave Sevilla now after his first-team breakthrough, but he set out a medium to long-term ambition.
Born in Torrevieja, Alicante, in July 2003 to parents from Reconquista, Santa Fe, he joined Sevilla in July 2022 from Málaga CF's youth ranks. He signed a three-year deal with Sevilla Atlético and rose quickly to the first team last season.
On his international future, Oso was unequivocal: "Since I was little I have been clear that I want to play for Argentina. I feel Argentine as I always have, but I am grateful to Spain because it has given me everything".
