Palestra ‘has agreed’ Chelsea move after €55m bid outstrips Inter | OneFootball

According to Football Italia, Italian outlets claim Marco Palestra has agreed to join Chelsea after they outbid Inter with a superior package.

The Atalanta player had appeared set for Inter following a strong loan at Cagliari. Atalanta were ready to accept €45m plus €5m in add-ons and were finalising the clauses.

Inter also presented personal terms to the player today, reportedly €2.5m per season. Chelsea then moved on the instruction of coach Xavi Alonso to bring the Italy international into his squad.

On salary, Sky Sport Italia reports an offer of €5m per season, while La Gazzetta dello Sport claims it is €6m. Either figure would be more than double Inter’s proposal.

Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia state Chelsea also bid €55m plus €5m in bonuses, €10m more than Inter’s package, with Atalanta still allowing Palestra to choose.

Multiple reports add that Inter are increasingly pessimistic, as they cannot compete with Chelsea’s finances.
