Palmeiras announce Venezuelan midfield duo Melanie Chirinos and Gellinot Reyes | OneFootball

According to Nosso Palestra, Palmeiras have announced the arrivals of Venezuelan midfielders Melanie Chirinos, 17, and Gellinot Reyes, 19, for their women's team on Friday.

The pair join after impressing at the Under-20 Copa América and in qualifying for the 2027 Women's World Cup, which will be staged in Brazil.

Chirinos is an attacking midfielder regarded as one of Venezuela's brightest prospects, noted for pace, technique and aggression. She said she wanted to leave her comfort zone to improve, and plans to work hard to debut for Palmeiras' first team, learn Portuguese and be happy at the club, adding that her family inspires every step.

Reyes operates as a holding midfielder and stands out for her vision, ball recovery and ability to organise the midfield. She described the move as special, praised Palmeiras' rich history and serious women's project, and said the chance to grow, compete at a higher level and represent an important team motivated her.

Although they have played for rival clubs in Venezuela, Chirinos and Reyes are regular team-mates with 'La Vinotinto' at youth level, particularly the Under-20s. They arrive aiming to strengthen Palmeiras' midfield and add creativity and balance to the side.
