Palmeiras are interested in signing Brazilian defender Igor Júlio, who is currently on loan at West Ham from Brighton & Hove Albion.
According to reports from Playmaker's sister site oGol, the Palmeiras board has inquired about Igor Júlio's current situation and the terms needed to proceed with negotiations. Brighton have not yet received any offers for the player who would be unable to join any other European team this season.
Igor Júlio already played a match in the FA Cup for the Seagulls and cannot play for another team competing in the European calendar at this time after featuring for West Ham but he could join another team who has a different calendar like the MLS or the Brazilian league...
According to a source close to the player, Igor Júlio is hesitant about leaving Europe. He does not see MLS as an option but the lack of playing time in London and interest from Palmeiras might change his mind.
Originally from the Red Bull project in Brazil, Igor Júlio moved to Europe while still in the youth ranks and played for Red Bull Salzburg, Liefering, Wolfsberger and Austria Vienna in Austrian football. He moved to Italy in 2019, initially to SPAL.
The highlight of his career was at Fiorentina, which served as a springboard to the Premier League. Sold for €16 million to Brighton, he had an excellent debut season in the Premier League but struggled with physical issues in his second year.
