Palmeiras internationals: Mauricio praised, Argentina pair go without minutes | OneFootball

Seven Palmeiras players were on international duty, with Mauricio praised for Paraguay while Agustín Giay and Flaco López went unused for Argentina. Jhon Arias has returned and may feature against Grêmio on Thursday at 21:30 Brasília time at Arena Barueri.

According to Nosso Palestra, Arias took part in most sessions after Colombia’s friendlies.

He played 72 minutes and scored in the 2-1 defeat to Croatia, then started against France on Sunday, playing 45 minutes without a direct contribution.

Gustavo Gómez captained Paraguay, completing 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Greece on Friday and the 2-1 loss to Morocco on Tuesday as World Cup preparations continued.

Ramón Sosa and Mauricio began on the bench against Morocco. Mauricio came on 11 minutes into the second half and was lauded by Paraguayan supporters, while Sosa did not play after a brief outing against Greece.

For Uruguay, Emiliano Martínez logged six minutes in the 1-1 draw with England, then a little over two minutes in the 0-0 with Algeria. Piquerez started against England but went off after 10 minutes with an ankle injury, missed Algeria and is now under treatment with the club’s health and performance unit.

Giay and Flaco López stayed on the bench against Zambia, having also begun out of the XI in the 2-1 win over Mauritania. Both came on in that first game, the right back, on his first call-up and covering for Montiel, after 20 minutes of the second half, and the forward for about 15 minutes.
