Palmeiras may surprise Juventude, Ramón Sosa has thigh strain

The Palmeiras squad returned to training on the morning of this Monday (06), at the Football Academy, just a few hours after their 3-2 victory over São Paulo on Sunday (05) at Morumbi, for the Brazilian Championship. The triumph — heroically achieved after the team came back from a 2-0 deficit — placed the Verdão at the top of the competition, with 55 points.

How was the training?

The starters and players who played at least 45 minutes in the Choque-Rei comeback performed regenerative activities at the recovery and neuroscience center. Meanwhile, the other athletes, such as Bruno Rodrigues, Micael, Jefté, and the goalkeepers, participated in a technical training session led by Abel Ferreira's coaching staff on the field.

The scorer of the decisive goal in the away victory, forward Ramón Sosa, was diagnosed with a thigh edema on the left side and began treatment at the center of excellence.

On the other hand, the reappearance brought good news for coach Abel Ferreira. Right-back Khellven, who was recovering from a foot injury, trained both indoors and on the field and may be available again for upcoming matches. The player progressed in his recovery schedule and is expected to be re-evaluated throughout the week to determine if he will be fit to face Juventude.

Forward Paulinho and midfielder Lucas Evangelista continued treatment with the Health and Performance Center.

The absentees of the day were those called up for national teams for the FIFA Date: Gómez (Paraguay), Aníbal Moreno (Argentina), Flaco López (Argentina), Emi Martínez (Uruguay), and Facundo Torres (Uruguay).

After the training, defender Bruno Fuchs, who came on at halftime of the classic, highlighted the resilience and focus of the group in the fight for the lead.

The victory was very important for the leadership. We have a very clear goal in the competition, and yesterday's victory was fundamental. Obviously, when you start losing 2-0, it's very difficult, but I believe that at no point did the team stop believing. Even when Mauricio, Allan, and I came on, we talked and said: ‘let's go, we can turn this game around’. And that's what we did, we achieved the three points, the three goals, a very important comeback even for morale. With the result, Palmeiras took the lead in the Brasileirão, and will return to the field next Saturday (11), at 7 PM, at Allianz Parque, to face Juventude in a postponed match of the competition.

We always have to prove ourselves, it's a very strong group. In the game against Fortaleza, during the Libertadores quarterfinals, the coach changed everyone and showed that he believes in the group. We trust his work and our work. We will go after the three points again, playing at home, where we have a good streak, with good victories. It's about bringing the fans back to support us, because we will be there running and trying to get three more points to stay in the lead
