Khellven and Jefté endured the toughest nights as Palmeiras were beaten by Vasco in Rio, with Flaco López’s thunderous strike the visitors’ standout moment.

According to Globo.com, both full-backs struggled in their duels, with the Vasco turnaround built down Khellven’s flank, while Jefté offered little going forward.

Gustavo Gómez prevented an opener after two minutes, cutting out an Andrés Gómez cross bound for David. Palmeiras went ahead on 40 minutes when Marlon Freitas teed up Flaco for a superb finish.

Vasco levelled on 17 minutes of the second half through Thiago Mendes after the centre forward held the ball up on Gómez. Carlos Miguel then denied Cuiabano, but the winger found the winner on 27 minutes.

Felipe Anderson had little impact before going off on 23 minutes of the second half, while Ramón Sosa and Luighi also failed to influence. Andreas Pereira was a threat from set plays and almost equalised with a stoppage time drive. Bruno Fuchs impressed in the air and Arias created a chance for Andreas on 25 minutes while often covering Khellven.

Allan entered late, was booked, and missed the big late chance to rescue a point. Head coach Abel Ferreira was suspended, so João Martins led from the touchline. Palmeiras rested Piquerez, felt defensive absences, and the substitutions made no difference.
