With one week left in the first transfer window, Palmeiras are fielding enquiries over a permanent deal for midfielder Rômulo, currently on loan at Novorizontino, with two foreign clubs and one Série A side making contact.

According to Globo.com, Palmeiras are inclined to sell if a suitable offer is formalised. Rômulo is on loan at Novorizontino until the end of the year and is the Paulistão's second-highest scorer with five goals, with the team into the semi-finals.

The loan obliges Novorizontino to release him if Palmeiras accept a bid from a Série A club or from abroad, and there is no showcase clause guaranteeing them a percentage of any future sale.

Palmeiras signed him from Novorizontino in 2024 for about R$ 6 million, but he logged only 16 appearances and one assist. Short of minutes, he went to Ceará on loan last year, played 21 times with one assist, then rejoined Novorizontino on loan.

Novorizontino have not moved to buy him. In 2025 he produced two goals and one assist in 16 games, and has started this season brightly with three assists in seven.

Vice-president Paulo Buosi said Palmeiras had received several proposals while Rômulo was in the squad, praised his talent and was sure he would still delight supporters.

Novorizontino executive Edgard Montemor said the club retained a percentage of his rights in the 2024 sale and that the player is regaining confidence. He hoped to keep him for Série B and pursue promotion before a return to Palmeiras.
