Wolves have often been on the wrong end of VAR, but their 2-2 draw at Brentford featured an error that ultimately aided them. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the Premier League’s Key Match Incidents Panel later said a home penalty was missed but, as it was not a clear and obvious error, VAR was right not to intervene.
Brentford led 2-0 on 41 minutes when Kevin Schade was held by Andre in the box. The referee did not award a penalty and the check did not prompt an overturn.
After review, the panel deemed the holding sustained and voted 4:1 that a spot-kick should have been given.
Wolves recovered, with Adam Armstrong and Tolu Arokodare levelling at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Arokodare struck the bar late on as Wolves nearly snatched all three points in their last game before a three week break.
