Olivier Pantaloni is moving towards a new contract at Lorient after a nine-match unbeaten Ligue 1 run that has taken the team to ninth. He has been in charge since 2024, guiding promotion last season.
According to L'Équipe, an extension is expected to be offered in the coming weeks after timing issues held up talks for months. Pantaloni’s deal expires in June, as does that of his assistant Yannick Cahuzac.
Having met targets in 2024-25 and with one year left, Pantaloni requested a renewal but says no response arrived, positive or negative. He has also stressed that he feels settled at the club and in the region, and sees no reason to look elsewhere.
The earlier silence was linked internally to negotiations over a sale to the American group Black Night Football Club, BKFC, which placed contract matters on hold. The agreement making BKFC the club’s sole shareholder was made official last week, clearing the way for movement.
His work has been widely praised given minimal summer recruitment and a squad arguably weaker than in Ligue 2. The present mood at Lorient favours continuity under the Corsican coach.
