Paris FC have pushed their players’ return to training back to nine July, a move that lends weight to the prospect of a new head coach, with Liam Rosenior strongly linked.

According to L'Équipe, the situation remains unclear, though Antoine Kombouaré now appears increasingly likely to depart. After the 2-1 win over PSG on 17 May, he said the players would come back on one July, casting doubt on his own presence. He will not be there, and nor will the squad, contrary to what he told several outlets last Friday.

The return has been delayed by eight days, not, it is thought, to give Kombouaré time to prepare the season. Relations have soured in recent weeks between a coach contracted until 2027, who wanted an extra year and a pay rise, and directors determined to keep the deal unchanged, at least until January.

The extra time would fit if a successor is to take charge. Rosenior, formerly in charge of Strasbourg and Chelsea, has been repeatedly mentioned.

Shareholders including the Arnault family would be ready to commit significant funds, with Rosenior insisting on a sizeable backroom staff of six to eight people. It is unclear whether Chelsea will be involved in talks, given he signed in January through to 2032 with provisions in case of dismissal. He was dismissed after only four months at the Blues, with 11 wins, two draws and 10 defeats in 23 matches.
