Parma ‘to ask’ €40m for Suzuki as Leeds bid falls short, Newcastle interest reported | OneFootball

Leeds United have turned their focus to a new goalkeeper, with a £26m offer on the table for Parma’s Zion Suzuki that currently falls short of the Italian club’s valuation. Hopes of landing the World Cup goalkeeper may be fading as rival interest gathers.

In a post on X, a reporter said Leeds have bid £26m plus add-ons, while Juventus offered €25m plus bonuses, and that Parma want €40m and have deemed both proposals too low, with planning on Suzuki’s future to begin upon his return. Separately, The Athletic reports Newcastle United have discussed Suzuki as Aaron Ramsdale’s loan ends.

Leeds have spent decisively this summer, adding Harry Wilson and £34m defender Tarik Muharemovic after Pascal Struijk’s departure. A keeper is the priority after Karl Darlow left for Man United, with Lucas Perri and Alex Cairns the senior options and Illan Meslier now at Arsenal.

Suzuki has impressed in Serie A for Parma and produced four assured displays at the World Cup before Japan went out to Brazil.

Manchester City back-up James Trafford has also been linked with Leeds and is likely to consider his future after the World Cup. Newcastle are weighing a move for the England goalkeeper, and if City allow an exit, one of the two clubs could secure him, with the other potentially revisiting Suzuki.
