Paul Merson has gone bold with his Premier League title prediction
Arsenal will win the Premier League title if they beat Fulham next weekend, according to Paul Merson.
The Gunners got back on in the title race on Saturday evening, beating Newcastle 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium thanks to a stunning strike from Eberechi Eze.
That was just Arsenal’s second win in seven matches across all competitions either side of the international break, though it is one that could prove crucial come the end of the season.
The win has moved Mikel Arteta’s side back to the top of the Premier League table, three points clear of Manchester City after they were in FA Cup semi-final action against Southampton.
Arsenal have the chance to extend the gap to six points when they welcome Fulham to the Emirates, two days before Man City face Everton away from home.
Speaking on Sky Sports after seeing his former side hold on for victory against Newcastle, Merson believes the title race could be decided as early as next weekend, predicting a difficult game for City on Merseyside.
“I have said it all season they’ll win it. It is getting tight but I think if they can go six points clear.
“Everton away [for Man City] six points behind? Difficult game.”

Despite the bold prediction, Merson accepts Arsenal games are not fun to watch at the moment.
“It’s not a nice watch and I don’t mean that in a horrible way with the team,” he added.
“I think it’s very nervy, very nervy. It has been so long that it’s sort of unenjoyable if you know what I mean?
“They should be enjoying these moments but it’s hard to enjoy them at the moment because it is just so nervy. That’s with the players, with the fans, that’s with everybody.
“I’m not blaming anybody, it’s just not enjoyable at the moment, it’s hard.”
