Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati, both of whom are yet to make their AS Monaco debuts, have been included in Les Monégasques’ UEFA Champions League squad for the upcoming ‘League Phase’ of the competition.
Pogba joined Monaco on a free transfer at the end of June, signing his first deal since returning from an 18-month doping ban. The Principality club are being prudent with the former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder and have set a potential return date for the start of October.
It means that he may not be fit for Monaco’s first two Champions League games, against Club Brugge (18th September) and Manchester City (1st October). However, it is hoped that he will have a part to play in their UCL campaign. There are also games against Tottenham Hotspur, Bodo/Glimt, Pafos, Galatasaray, Real Madrid, and former club Juventus to look forward to.
Fati, who is also yet to make his debut since joining on loan from Barcelona, has also been included. He is expected back just after the international break. Krépin Diatta and Paris Brunner are the two most high-profile players to miss out.
