The FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has taken the world of football by storm, as he has emerged to become one of the very best players in the sport during the last three years, despite still being only 18 years of age. At an age when even some of the most gifted players have made only their debuts, the Blaugrana star has already made himself a contender for individual titles as big as the Ballon d’Or.
In these three years, Yamal has already proven his skills at the highest level, both his club side, with which he has already won three La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cup titles, and one Copa del Rey title, and with his Spanish national team, with which he has won the UEFA EURO 2024.
Meanwhile, several important voices in European football have spoken highly of the youngster, recognizing him as one of the very top players. Most recently, this was the case with the French midfielder Paul Pogba, who returned to the pitch last season after serving a long ban.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Frenchman appeared in an interview with El Chringuito, in which he was full of praise for the Barcelona forward. The AS Monaco player had some advice for Yamal:
“Lamine is doing very well — young and calm, just as he should be. He’s very young. He doesn’t want people to treat him as if he were 30 years old.”
“My advice to Lamine would be simply to play football, nothing more. He should surround himself with good people. His family and his agent are important. They should take care of his image, while he focuses only on football.”
Pogba also expressed his belief that the Spaniard was one of the three best players in the world:
“If he isn’t the best, he’s among the top three. If he’s not number one, then he’s second or third.”
This is some sound advice from Paul Pogba, a player who has experienced both extreme highs and extreme lows during his career as a professional footballer. Like Yamal, he emerged as a footballing prodigy early in his career, played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe, but also saw himself regularly involved in controversy.
Hopefully, Lamine Yamal would learn from his case, and take his advice to surround himself with the right people, while also not becoming too engrossed about his image while expressing himself on the pitch.
