In a recent interview, Cristian Romero criticised Tottenham owner Daniel Levy for what he perceives as a lack of investment in the team.

The Argentine defender suggested that the club could be doing more to strengthen its squad, particularly given the demands of competing at the highest level.

According to Mail Sport, Romero expressed his frustration with the situation, sparking debates among fans and pundits alike.

"The last few years, it's always the same: first, the players, then the coaching staff changes, and it's always the same people responsible.

"Hopefully, they realise who the true responsible ones are, and we move forward because it's a beautiful club that, with the structure it has, could easily be competing for the title every year."

Speaking to Tottenham News, former goalkeeper Paul Robinson shared his thoughts on Romero's remarks: “He can say what he wants when he’s left the club but don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

“He can have his own opinions once he’s left the club but when you’re part of a family, a unit, who are all trying to achieve something together."

How is the club responding to the drama?

Manager Ange Postecoglou also downplayed the comments, emphasising the need for focus and unity within the squad.

However, some fans are speculating that Romero’s remarks could indicate dissatisfaction that might lead to a future transfer, particularly after rumours of interest from Real Madrid last summer.

While Romero’s comments have resonated with many supporters frustrated by Tottenham’s perceived lack of ambition, others argue that such statements should be left to fans, not players.

Critics believe Romero should focus on his performances, particularly as the club continues to pay his wages even when he’s sidelined by injury.

This controversy adds another layer to Tottenham’s turbulent narrative. Whether Romero’s remarks will lead to meaningful changes or remain a fleeting moment of frustration is yet to be seen.
