Rémi Himbert limped off three minutes after coming on in Vigo with an ankle injury, and Paulo Fonseca said they fear the news is not good while tests in Lyon will confirm the damage.

Brought on for Nicolas Tagliafico in the 67th minute, the 18-year-old was hurt on his first involvement when Celta forward Pablo Duran landed on his right ankle. "He was very angry and at first I did not understand what he was saying," said Moussa Niakhaté, speaking to Canal+, of an exchange with goalkeeper Dominik Greif during the stoppage.

"He thought Rémi Himbert was not that hurt and asked me to tell him to get up quickly. I told him to wait because I felt he was in real pain, and he went off."

Despite treatment, Himbert was replaced by Adam Karabec in the 70th minute, and the match finished 1-1. After the game, Fonseca reiterated that they would await examinations in Lyon.

Himbert’s rise had been rapid, with a senior debut against Brest on 18 January in a 2-1 win and a first Lyon goal 11 days later against PAOK in a 4-2 Europa League victory. Two more goals followed before he signed his first professional contract on Tuesday. He had been in contention to start at Le Havre at 15:00 this weekend and now looks likely to miss that trip.
