Pedro Emanuel named new Vasco head coach | OneFootball

Pedro Emanuel has been appointed Vasco's new head coach. The 51-year-old Portuguese recently left Al-Fayha and is expected in Rio de Janeiro soon to begin work before the match against Vitória next Thursday in the Brasileirão.

According to Globo.com, talks accelerated over the past two days and the deal was concluded quickly. Emanuel was a free agent but had more lucrative offers from other Saudi clubs.

The project presented by Admar Lopes and his desire to work in Brazil convinced him to accept. He did not view the club's SAF legal situation as an obstacle and is excited for his first job in Brazilian football.

Emanuel began his coaching career in 2011 in Portugal and has spent the last seven seasons in Arab football, six in Saudi Arabia, with Al-Nassr, Al-Khaleej and Al-Fayha. He has also worked at Almería, Estoril and Arouca.

His most recent club was Al-Fayha in last season's Saudi campaign. He was replaced there by Fábio Carille.

Vasco have been without a head coach since 18 June after dismissing Renato Gaúcho. Talks with Franclim Carvalho and Fernando Seabra did not lead to a swift hire due to the SAF legal dispute.
