Pep Guardiola Reveals Erling Haaland’s Status Ahead of Crucial Burnley Encounter
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola's confirmed that Erling Haaland's ready to face Burnley on Saturday despite recent concerns over back problem.
Haaland was substituted in the 76 minute during last weekend's 1 - 1 draw with Arsenal after feeling discomfort.
He also missed City's midweek Carabao cup win over Huddersfield Town. Guardiola, however ended speculation in Friday's press conference with brief update:
"He is ready"
The champions have won only two of their opening 5 league match leaving them 8 point adrift of leaders Liverpool.
Haaland's return is seen as crucial with the striker already netting 7 goal in 6 appearances this season.
Since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, Haaland's scored 91 goal in 104 PL match.
His debut campaign produced record breaking 36 goaz firing City to historic treble. He also recently became the fastest player to reach 50 goal in the Champions league achieving the feat in just 49 game.
Guardiola confirmed that Omar Marmoush (knee), Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait Nouri remain sidelined while defender Abdukodir Khusanov's out with ankle issue.
Midfielder Mateo Kovacic's edging closer to return. Saturday’s match also marks Kyle Walker’s first appearance against City since leaving for Burnley in Jan after illustrious spell that brought 17 trophy.
With packed schedule ahead (including Monaco in the Champions League & Brentford in the league) Haaland's availability's major boost as City aim to close the gap on Liverpool.
