Spaniard set to turn down sensational reunion with one of football’s all-time legends after leaving Manchester City
Pep Guardiola has rejected an offer from Sir David Beckham to become manager of Inter Miami and reunite with his old friend Lionel Messi.
According to reports in the Mirror, Beckham has made Guardiola his No1 choice as Javier Mascherano’s replacement after the Argentine stepped down from duty last month.
Guardiola and Messi won a number of trophies together during their time at Barcelona, including three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues, but there is no reunion on the cards, with the Spaniard expected to reject an approach from Inter Miami to sign as the MLS club’s new manager.
Beckham and the rest of Inter Miami’s hierarchy have been taking their time on replacing Mascherano in the hopes Guardiola could be wooed after leaving City.

The Spaniard has made it clear, however, that he plans to take an extended break from football after calling time on his highly decorated decade with Man City.
He then hopes to take on a role with an international side.
International football could be the next step for Guardiola, as he has reportedly told those close to him that he is considering that option for the future.
The FA were thought to be interested in bringing the former City manager on board after Gareth Southgate’s resignation in 2024, but a deal proved unfeasible due to his contractual ties to City.
Pep dominated the Premier League during his tenure at the Etihad, winning six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, five League Cups and one Champions League in ten years. If he was to make a return to managing, it would be safe to assume it would not be the MLS just yet.
