Manchester City bounced back to form in the Premier League defeating Bournemouth 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to extend their perfect home record against the Cherries.

After narrow defeat to Aston Villa in the previous round, Pep Guardiola’s men responded emphatically securing their ninth home win out of nine against Bournemouth — a fixture in which they now boast 34 goal scored and only 4 conceded at the Etihad.

How the goals came

City opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Rayan Cherki delivered pinpoint long pass to Erling Haaland who muscled past his marker before finishing confidently.

Bournemouth equalised 8 minute later through Tyler Adams who capitalised on goalmouth scramble following corner.

But the parity didn’t last. In the 32 minute, Cherki & Haaland combined again — the Frenchman sliding perfect through ball for the Norwegian to round the keeper and slot home his second.

The double took Haaland’s league tally to 13 goal, more than half of the Premier League’s current teams.

The hosts sealed the result on the hour mark when Nico O’Reilly making his mark in midfield, slalomed through defenders and fired in low shot to make it 3-1.

Key numbers & records

According to Opta, Man City have now won 16 of their 17 Premier League meetings with Bournemouth. Only Man United maintain similar 100% home win rate but in more matches (16 vs Luton Town).

Phil Foden aged 25 years and 158 days became the youngest player to reach 200 Premier League appearances for City breaking Raheem Sterling’s record (26 years, 284 days).

Meanwhile Rayan Cherki became the only player in Europe’s top five leagues to record 2 assist in 5 different matches across all competitions in 2025 — both his assists on Sunday feeding Haaland.

Final standings

The win lifts Manchester City to 19 point, 6 behind leaders Arsenal (25).

Bournemouth remain on 18 point in fourth.
