Kevin Schade has moved into the Premier League’s top 10 most prolific German scorers after firing Brentford to a 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
The 24-year-old’s perfect hat-trick at Gtech Community Stadium took his league tally to 19 goals, lifting him clear of former Chelsea and Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Ballack (17) on the all-time list.
Schade’s treble was the third of the Premier League season, following efforts from Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta and Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze, but he became the first player in the division this campaign to score a ‘perfect’ hat-trick, finding the net with his left foot, right foot and head.
It was also Schade’s second Premier League hat-trick in Brentford colours, having previously scored three times in a 4-1 victory over Leicester City last season.
That achievement places him in elite company, with only four Germans — André Schürrle, Fredi Bobic, Jürgen Klinsmann and now Schade — ever to score a Premier League hat-trick. Schade is the first German player to register multiple trebles in the competition.
