Alejandro Garnacho knew that facing his former club on Saturday would mean a few unkind headlines if his team lost. The fact that he started on the bench didn’t help, as he was summoned to action after barely 15 minutes when Estevao went off injured.
The reaction to a shocking showing from Garnacho, as well as another defeat for Chelsea, has meant a host of toxic reaction to the winger, not least from the Daily Star.
“One example of Chelsea’s shambolic dysfunction stands out above all the rest. And it’s the club’s decision to spend the thick end of £50m on Alejandro Garnacho,” their writer Jeremy Cross claims.
“Whoever was responsible for thinking this was a good idea should be sacked on the spot. Which brings us to co-owner Behdad Eghbali.”
He claims that Man U were sick of Garnacho’s attitude, and couldn’t believe the offer Chelsea made to take him off their hands.
Estevao’s injury is not as severe as feared, and the winger will make it back for Brazil’s World Cup squad says a source in South America.
Nicolas Jackson has been off the radar a little bit recently because of Chelsea’s dreadful form, but his future it a question the Blues are going to have to answer soon.
