Peter Crouch has shared a hilarious story involving Bojan during their time shared at Stoke City
Former England and Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has shared a hilarious story of how former Stoke City teammate Bojan pronounced Morecambe via his podcast.
Stoke City were once a staple of the Premier League.
From the era under Tony Pulis when they first earned promotion to the top flight in 2008, with the likes of Ryan Shawcross, Rory Delap, and Ricardo Fuller donning the red and white stripes, to the 'Stokalona' era under Mark Hughes, where the Potters, at one stage, had more Champions League winners in their squad than any other side.
Both eras are fondly remembered by Stoke supporters, having reached an FA Cup final, achieved European football, and had some memorable results against Arsenal and Manchester City under Pulis, whilst playing some of their best football in the club's history and finishing in 9th place in the Premier League three seasons in a row between 2014 and 2016.
Six-foot-seven striker Peter Crouch played under both, having been brought to the club under Pulis from Spurs for a then-club-record £12 million. The Englishman would go on to become Stoke's record goalscorer in the top flight, scoring 44 goals for the Potters across six-and-a-half seasons in Staffordshire.
Crouch would still be heavily utilised by Hughes following the Welshman's appointment in May 2013, as the striker saw the likes of Matthew Etherington, Jermaine Pennant, and Rory Delap leave, whilst Marko Arnautovic, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Bojan all came in, as Stoke shifted from their route-one to one that focused on getting the best out of their stylish attackers.
The retired forward now hosts a podcast alongside his wife, Abbey Clancy, called The Therapy Crouch Podcast, and shared a hilarious story involving Spanish attacking-midfielder Bojan and his pronunciation of Morecambe.

In a clip shared on the podcast's Instagram, Crouch detailed a story where Bojan asked him who Stoke were playing next, to which he responded with Morecambe, but being from Catalonia, the pronunciation of the Lancashire-based club doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
The Spaniard's pronunciation of Morecambe wasn't like a place that you would find in the North-West of the United Kingdom, but more like a resort on the Italian coastline.
Bojan's pronunciation understandably cracked Crouch up, who to this day still remembers the incident and refers to Morecambe as the way that his former teammate once pronounced it.
Bojan was one of a few former Barcelona players brought to Stoke under Hughes, with both Ibrahim Affelay and Marc Muniesa also switching the Camp Nou for the bet365 Stadium, with the diminutive attacking-midfielder remaining a fan favourite in Staffordshire to this day.

Even before his move to Stoke, Crouch became a favourite in the public eye for his personality, but it only grew over his time with the Potters.
The lanky striker is synonymous with Stoke's most successful period in their recent history, the focal point of almost all attacks, leaving behind a legacy which includes a wonder-goal against Man City, reaching 100 Premier League goals in total, and becoming the club's top goalscorer in the division.
Bojan, meanwhile, played for the likes of Barcelona, Ajax, Roma, and AC Milan across his career, but found his second home in North Staffordshire with the Potters, having made 85 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring 16 times and grabbing three assists after joining in 2014.
The once-capped former Spanish international, who is of Serbian descent, endeared himself to Stoke supporters from the moment he arrived, as did they to him, as they formed a special bond with each other which wages on to this day.
The attacking-midfielder suffered an ACL injury during his time with the club, which massively affected his career, with many Stoke fans believing he was never the same player after the ordeal.
Nevertheless, both Bojan and Crouch have a strong reputation with the club, and the Morecambe anecdote will have no doubt come to make many Potters fans smile and reminisce about the times in the Premier League with those two in attack.
