Peter Gulacsi seals €2m Villarreal move, Ørjan Nyland ‘to return’ as Leipzig No. two | OneFootball

RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi has completed a move to Villarreal for a €2m fee. The former Leipzig captain leaves the Bundesliga for La Liga.

Sport Bild reports performance-related bonuses are included and adds that free agent Ørjan Nyland is close to returning to Leipzig as back-up.

Nyland previously joined Leipzig in 2022/23 after Gulacsi’s serious knee injury. He most recently played for Sevilla and is available on a free this summer.

Stuttgart passed on a deal, with the club uncertain about entering the market as he would likely have been required to give up the starting role once Seimen returned.

A move back could offer Nyland a clearer long-term brief. Maarten Vandevoordt is established as the club’s new No. one, so the Norwegian would arrive as a dependable deputy and experienced dressing room figure.
