Manchester City have secured the long-term future of Phil Foden with a new four-year deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium till the summer of 2030.

On the prospect of working alongside newly-appointed Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca, Foden added: “I can’t wait to work with Enzo again. He was brilliant during the Treble season – someone all the players respected and loved working with. To have him back here is exciting.

“Personally, I know I’ve improved so much from working with our coaches and world-class squad and as many of the legends who were here when I first broke through move on, I am excited for the next phase of my career at this great club.”

Report: Foden renewal contains option for another year

According to Sam Lee of The Athletic, the contract that has now been signed includes an option to extend by a further 12 months beyond the four-year term, meaning Foden could remain at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2031 if that clause is ultimately triggered.

Lee also confirms that Foden is considered a central part of the team under Maresca, underlining the role he is expected to play in the next chapter of the club’s story.
