In the summer of 2010 James Forrest was just feeling his way into the Celtic team. Determined to make the grade and establish himself as a regular starter, the Scottish winger could hardly have imagined that he would go on to become a club legend with over 500 appearances and a goal to his name in 16 consecutive seasons in a Celtic shirt.
Today’s photo of the day revisits the summer of 15 years ago, on 16 July, when Celtic faced Manchester United in a pre-season friendly. The game took place in Toronto, Canada during a tour of the region for both clubs. The Red Devils won the fixture by three goals to one, courtesy of goals by Berbatov, Welbeck and Cleverley. Samaras had briefly levelled for the Celts.
During the action, James Forrest was snapped attempting to cross the ball beyond the outstretched legs of English football legend Paul Scholes. It was the beginning of a great and successful Celtic career.
