Members of the fanbase at La Liga giants Real Madrid on Friday moved to reiterate their appreciation for one leading member of new boss Xabi Alonso’s squad.

The player in question? Luka Modrić.

Veteran midfielder Modrić is of course currently in the midst of preparations for his final round of fixtures in the colours of Real Madrid.

Ahead of the expiration of the Croatian’s contract this summer, the board at the Santiago Bernabéu recently made the call not to offer Modrić fresh terms.

As much means that the upcoming Club World Cup will mark the 39-year-old’s Real Madrid swan song.

Xabi Alono’s squad will make the trip to the USA for the tournament on Saturday, meaning today’s training session came as Modrić’s very last at Valdebebas.

And as alluded to above, the club’s supporters were sure not to allow as much to pass without sending one final message to their long-time engine room star.

A banner was displayed outside Valdebebas, reading ‘Modrić, Eternal’, accompanied by a Blancos jersey featuring the name of the former Ballon d’Or winner:
