Joaquín Piquerez reported back to Palmeiras on Sunday and has begun treatment after a right ankle sprain sustained for Uruguay against England at Wembley on Thursday.
According to Nosso Palestra, he was assessed by the club’s health and performance unit and will undergo further tests in the coming days.
Under Abel Ferreira, the squad trained on Sunday morning at the Academia de Futebol.
The session covered technical and tactical drills, with specific work for attacking and defensive units, as preparations continue for Grêmio on Thursday 2 at 21:30 at Arena Barueri in the ninth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Forward Vitor Roque remains a concern. He is still experiencing ankle pain after trauma in the Campeonato Paulista semi-final and, due to accumulated workload in the state final, completed indoor work on an individual programme at the club’s centre of excellence.
