Liverpool youngster Jayden Danns has returned to training after a long injury lay-off.

The 18-year-old striker made his first senior appearance for the Reds under Jurgen Klopp last season.

He played in the dramatic Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, in which Liverpool won in extra time. Klopp hailed him as a “really special” player, adding the youngster was “absolutely insane”.

Danns was out with a back injury, and he didn’t get the chance to impress Arne Slot.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, the youngster is now training with the senior side and could be a part of Slot’s plans this season.

Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle are interested in signing him on loan, and the youngster could be set for a temporary exit in the January window if Slot feels that is the best move for his development.

Liverpool could soon be boosted by the return of several key players

Harvey Elliott returned to the matchday squad against Southampton, and Slot will look to integrate him into the side gradually.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is still missing for the side. Slot confirmed last week that Diogo Jota and Alisson will definitely miss the clash against Real Madrid in midweek, but it won’t be long before the duo will return to the first team.

Federico Chiesa has also started outdoor training, and he should return to the first-team squad at some point before the end of this year.

It makes sense for Danns to go out on loan and play regular football. Ben Doak moved to Middlesbrough on loan this summer, and he is enjoying a cracking season at Riverside.

When the Reds trio of Jota, Chiesa and Elliott return to full fitness, it will be very difficult for Danns to get minutes, even in cup games.

Danns is a highly exciting young talent, and he can follow Doak’s path to regain his fitness and confidence.
