Boca drew 2-2 with Newell’s in Rosario on the third round of the Torneo Apertura, Santiago Ascacibar and Alan Velasco scoring for the visitors. Another lead slipped, leaving more doubts than answers for a side short on conviction.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Boca dominated a vibrant first half, creating several clear chances. Ascacibar headed in from a Sebastián Villa cross. Newell’s hit back after the break through Cóccaro, then Regiardo made it 2-1, before Velasco levelled.

Leonel Flores, rated highest, was a constant threat on the right, central to the equaliser with Tomás Aranda supplying the assist. Gorosito impressed at right-back. Aranda later struck the post as Boca chased a winner.

Goalkeeper Álvaro Montero looked uneasy under crosses and was beaten by both shots on target, though his long pass sparked the move for 2-2. Leandro Paredes faded after a bright start and argued with referee Andrés Merlo. Villa’s supply for the opener aside, he struggled against Goitea.

Miguel Merentiel had three early chances, including a header off the bar, before being replaced by Milton Giménez, who saw little of the ball. Leandro Lozano offered tidy cover. Coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena made few changes, handing starts to Di Lollo, Gorosito and Flores.
