Lazio exceeded all expectations by becoming the first team to beat Lazio at the Stadio Maradona in Serie A this season.

Matteo Cancellieri opened the scoring early on, while Mattia Zaccagni wasted a spot-kick later in the first half. Nevertheless, the Biancocelesti still found a second goal after the break thanks to Toma Basic.

Here are our player ratings for Lazio, who placed the final nail in the Scudetto race by beating Napoli 2-0.

Lazio XI (4-3-3)

Edoardo Motta – 6

The young goalkeeper would have never imagined earning such an easy clean sheet at the Maradona. He only had one routine save to make in the final minute.

Manuel Lazzari – 6.5

A convincing all-round display from the right-back, who made some daring runs to the final third and held his own against Alisson Santos in the second half.

Mario Gila – 6.5

The Spaniard made a positive return to action following a brief injury stop. Combined well with Romagnoli to frustrate Rasmus Hojlund and Co.

Alessio Romagnoli – 7

The former Milan captain reigned supreme at the back, comfortably and confidently dealing with all danger.

Nuno Tavares – 7

The Portuguese put on what could arguably be his best performance of the season. Caused havoc for the Partenopei with his menacing runs down the left flank, and one of them culminated with Lazio’s second goal. He also managed to keep Matteo Politano at bay.

Toma Basic – 7

The Croatian midfielder tested Vanja Milinkovic-Savic in the first half before beating the goalkeeper with a powerful shot in the second period. His return has been a vital boost for Sarri.

Danilo Cataldi – 6

The Lazio Regista sat too deep that he was almost on the same line as the defenders. But his contribution was key to taming Kevin de Bruyne and Eljif Elmas.

Kenneth Taylor – 7

An all-round display from the Dutch midfielder, who provided a clinical assist on the opener. Won his duel against Zambo Anguissa.

Matteo Cancellieri – 7

The winger put himself in the right spot to score the opener. He was also credited with the assist for the second, but knew little about it.

Tijjani Noslin – 7

The former Verona star didn’t register a goal or an assist, but he was absolutely crucial for Lazio. He stole the ball from Alessandro Buongiorno before winning the spot-kick that was squandered by Zaccagni. He also left the Italian in his dust in the build-up for the second goal.

Mattia Zaccagni – 5.5

The Lazio skipper instigated the opener with a clever pass for Taylor, but his outing was blemished by his missed spot-kick, as well as the botched rebound.

Substitutes

Boulaye Dia – 5.5

Not a terrible cameo from the Senegalese striker, but he did little to distinguish himself.

Patric – 6

The Lazio stalwart picked up the baton from Cataldi, acting as a robust shield for the backline.

Oliver Provstgaard – 6

The Danish defender relishes one-on-one duels, and found success against the Napoli attackers, including his compatriot Hojlund.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru – N/A

Elseid Hysaj – N/A
