Paul Pogba says Juventus didn’t provide him with basic help during his doping ban: ‘ I thought I was at war with anti-doping authorities, not the club.’

French midfielder Pogba says he wasn’t given enough support by his former club Juventus during an 18-month doping ban.

“I asked Juventus for help, but I wasn’t given it,” the 32-year-old told Sept à huit on TF1 (via Gazzetta).

Pogba failed a doping test after a Serie A match against Udinese in 2023. The France international had spent the entire match on the bench.

He was initially banned for four years, but his suspension was later reduced to 18 months.

Juventus formally terminated Pogba’s contract in November 2024, while the player has been eligible to play again since March 2025.

“I asked to get a fitness coach, as I was still part of the team. I had the right to get it. Let’s say Juventus didn’t support me, and that struck with me,” Pogba continued.

“I didn’t understand why. I thought I was at war with anti-doping authorities, not Juventus.

“I couldn’t keep taking my kids to school every day, passing by the stadium and the training centre, and knowing I wouldn’t be able to play for a long time. My kids kept asking me when I’d be back on the pitch and when they could watch me at the stadium again.”

Pogba is now available as a free agent and is expected to sign for Ligue 1 side Monaco.

“I’m mentally and physically ready, and I’m eager to start again. I’m 32, but I still feel like a kid,” he concluded.

Pogba made 132 Juventus appearances across two spells in Turin.

The first one was undoubtedly the most successful, as he played 178 matches in four seasons, scoring 34 goals and winning four Serie A titles.
