Police separated Celtic and Rangers supporters after both sets invaded the pitch following a Scottish Cup quarter-final on Sunday, the result quickly felt secondary.

The tie finished 0-0, and Celtic won 4-2 on penalties at Ibrox.

In the aftermath, Celtic fans first, then Rangers supporters, came onto the pitch as officers formed a human barrier between rival groups.

Pyrotechnics and other objects were thrown from the playing surface.

In a statement, the Scottish FA condemned the behaviour and said an immediate investigation would follow under its judicial panel protocol. This was the first Old Firm in nearly 10 years with a sizeable away allocation, after visiting fans were barred in 2023 before returning in limited numbers.
