According to Meu Timao, a fan poll found 61% of Corinthians supporters oppose renewing defender Agustina for 2027, with 39% in favour. The 33-year-old Argentine’s future is under debate.
She has entered the final six months of her deal, so can sign a pre-contract elsewhere and leave for free at year end.
This is her second spell at Parque São Jorge. In 2017 she played two matches, both in the Libertadores, and won the title after a 5-4 shootout against Chile’s Colo-Colo.
After leaving Timão she turned out for Palmeiras, Ferroviária, Osasco Audax, UAI Urquiza in Argentina, and Spanish clubs Tenerife and Madrid CFF, then spent last year with Flamengo.
Announced on 10 January, Agustina has yet to play this season. Early tests found a recurrent contracture linked to scarring in the left calf’s soleus muscle after an earlier injury.
She was close to returning in May but suffered further issues in the left leg and her debut was postponed. In late June the club said she had begun physical readaptation with its health and performance unit.
She is now racing to be available to head coach Emily Lima for the first game of the second half. Corinthians host Ferroviária on 17 July at 19:00 at the Fazendinha in the fourth round of the Campeonato Paulista Feminino.
