Porto keen to sign Tottenham left-back Souza | OneFootball

Portuguese giants FC Porto are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s young left-back Joao Victor de Souza, according to O Jogo.

The 20-year-old Brazilian defender joined Tottenham in January 2026 from Santos in a deal worth €15 million.

Arriving in London with a glowing reputation as one of South America’s most promising full-backs, Souza was viewed as a long-term investment capable of challenging for first-team opportunities.

His profile was further boosted by a nomination for the prestigious 2026 Golden Boy award, underlining his raw talent and potential.

However, Souza’s transition to English football has not been smooth. The defender made just four Premier League appearances during the second half of the 2025-26 campaign.

Competition in Tottenham’s defensive ranks is high, with established options on the left flank restricting the youngster’s path to the first team.

Porto, known for their track record of developing South American talent, view Souza as an ideal candidate to reinforce their backline.

Benfica are also keen to bring Souza to Portugal and have submitted a €20 million bid.

With the player’s contract running until 2031, Spurs retain strong leverage in any negotiations and will now weigh the financial return against the loss of a highly rated prospect.
