Posch hails "incredible atmosphere" as Mainz make history in Europe | OneFootball

Tonight's 2-0 win ensured Mainz saw off Sigma Olomouc to book their spot in the quarter-final of the Conference League, with goal-scorer Stefan Posch happy to share his delight. 

“That was a great performance from all of us, even in the first half," said the Austrian defender in his post-match interview in the mixed zone.

"Of course, we should have taken the lead earlier, which has sometimes been our weakness. I’m obviously very happy about my goal.

"It was important for us to score right after halftime. The atmosphere was incredible. This is how we imagined it, and that’s how it turned out. Now we move on to Frankfurt.

“We’re on a good path, but still right in the middle of the relegation battle. In terms of Europe, we’ll just see how far we can go,” Posch added. 

Urs Fischer's men will now face RC Strasbourg in the quarter-final of the competition after the Ligue 1 side defeated Rijeka 3-2 on aggregate over two legs.
