Omar Marmoush is attracting loan interest from within the Premier League, but appears to remain committed to the cause at Manchester City.
The Egypt international has found minutes difficult to come by during the first half of the season, in what is often a familiar challenge for attacking players operating within Pep Guardiola’s side given the presence of Erling Haaland dominating the leading striker role.
Manchester City’s depth in forward areas has often required patience from new or fringe options, particularly amid a congested fixture calendar and shifting tactical roles. Recent reports surrounding City’s squad management have underlined a consistent strategy from the club when it comes to mid-season movement.
While several players across the squad have been linked with potential exits or loans in previous windows, Manchester City have tended to resist temporary departures unless they clearly align with long-term development plans or immediate squad balance, or demand an exit themselves.
That approach has been evident across recent campaigns, with Pep Guardiola preferring to retain versatile attacking options for the second half of campaigns that often include decisive Premier League fixtures, domestic cup commitments, and Champions League knockout ties.
Now, according to the information of winwin’s Ismael Mahmoud, both Aston Villa and Tottenham are monitoring Omar Marmoush’s situation at Manchester City with the hope of signing the Egypt international on loan.
However, it is revealed that Marmoush himself is currently prioritising staying at the Etihad Stadium, even while he continues to seek a bigger role in the squad than the one he had during the first-half of the season.
With discussions set to be held after the African Cup of Nations over the player’s position in the squad, Manchester City’s stance is said to be ‘clear and unchanged’, with no intention of letting Omar Marmoush leave the club, viewing him as a very important player.
The second half of the season has historically seen Pep Guardiola lean on squad players more heavily as physical demands increase, injuries accumulate, and tactical flexibility becomes crucial, and Marmoush’s versatility across the front line is a key factor in the club’s reluctance to sanction a move.
For the player, the coming weeks could prove decisive, as strong performances upon return from international duty may yet reshape his role, particularly if Manchester City are required to rotate more frequently across competitions.
Manager Pep Guardiola has often rewarded persistence in training with extended opportunities later in the season, and while Aston Villa and Tottenham are expected to maintain interest, any January move currently appears unlikely.
Unless there is a significant shift in either the player’s outlook or Manchester City’s squad needs, Omar Marmoush looks set to remain part of Guardiola’s plans as the club enters another critical phase of their campaign.
