What lessons need to be learned from last season?

That multi-club ownership in football is a real danger. The farce that has seen us kicked out of the Europa League has put a real dampener on what should have been a summer of celebration.

It’s impacted our transfer window and, although it’s the verdict none of us wanted, I’m just glad it’s all over. At least we’ve got a better chance of winning the Conference League…

I never want to hear the words ‘Blind Trust’ or ‘John Textor’ again.

What’s your view on the manager?

You mean the manager who finally won Crystal Palace silverware? After ending a 120-year drought, Oliver Glasner could walk out tomorrow and still be a hero. He’s built a really impressive side in South London, proving you can find success in a 3-4-3…

What’s your verdict on your summer transfer window so far?

Quiet. Borna Sosa and Walter Benitez have come in for a combined sum of just £3m. It’s a far cry from some of the big spending elsewhere but, so far, we’ve held onto our best players.

I’d expect Marc Guehi to depart before the deadline but rumours of a move for Ousmane Diomande are exciting. I trust the board to replace any exits well.

One player to watch from your club this season

Justin Devenny. The kid just oozes confidence and it’s hard to believe he was in Scotland’s lower tiers not long ago. That penalty to win the Community Shield was nerveless. Hopefully he earns more minutes this season.

The most underrated player at your club is…

There’s a few but I’ll plump for Maxence Lacroix. For all the interest in Guehi, it’s surprising none of the big boys are taking a look at Laxcroix. His recovery pace has been a real addition to our side. A Rolls-Royce.

The game you’re most looking forward to this season is…

Nottingham Forest.

Our European demotion and their promotion has left a sour taste. Has a new rivalry been born?

What opposition player do you secretly admire

Cole Palmer. It must be enjoyable to be that care free.

This season your team will finish…

Probably somewhere between 10th and 14th, as is the norm. If we can avoid another slow start, there’s no reason we can’t push on higher.
