The Premier League relegation picture is unchanged after Matchweek 18, with Wolves, Burnley and West Ham still in the bottom three. Nuno Espirito Santo is under pressure after West Ham’s 1-0 loss to Fulham. According to NY Times, the same trio have been there since Matchweek 13.
Wolves lost 2-1 at Anfield, an 11th straight defeat that leaves them on two points, 16 from safety. Ryan Gravenberch finished a Jeremie Frimpong cut-back, then Florian Wirtz added another from a Hugo Ekitike pass. Wolves improved after the break with 165 passes and nine shots.
Burnley drew 0-0 with Everton despite 16 shots and none on target, extending their winless run to nine and leaving them six points from safety. They have conceded 34.7 expected goals, the division’s worst.
West Ham’s defeat highlighted their blunt edge, with 0.91 xG but only 0.20 xGOT. Callum Wilson’s 56th-minute introduction lifted them to eight second-half shots, yet Raul Jimenez headed the 85th-minute winner from Harry Wilson’s cross after an Ollie Scarles error. Their split is stark, averaging 2.37 xG in three wins and 0.73 across the other 15.
Nottingham Forest lost 2-1 to Manchester City, with Tijjani Reijnders opening from Rayan Cherki’s pass, Omari Hutchinson levelling on 54 minutes before Cherki decided it late. Leeds drew 1-1 at Sunderland to make it five unbeaten and sit seven clear, their equaliser a 12-pass move involving all 11 and finished by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
