Leeds United’s relegation rivals last season, Tottenham, have spent £100m on a new midfielder, Newcastle have signed a winger and Sunderland have lost a £21.5m star. Arsenal have made Piero Hincapie’s loan permanent from Bayer Leverkusen for £25m. Jakub Kiwior has joined Porto on a permanent after his loan, while Karl Hein has completed a permanent switch to Werder Bremen. Samuel Onyekachukwu was among eight others released.

Aston Villa have a pre-contract agreement for Modou Keba Cisse from LASK. Sil Swinkels has left for Sheffield Wednesday.
